What to Expect
Your first visit to the Marriage Counseling Center will give us a chance to get to know more about you and your specific needs as a client. We will spend some time collecting general information for your records such as insurance and billing information for our files. This information can also be filled out on our online client forms prior to your office visit to help save you some time on the day of your appointment.
Our Professional Counselors will begin your session by introducing themselves and allowing you to speak freely about yourself and your specific situation. This will assist them in evaluating a course of action for your future counseling sessions. If you are seeking couples or marriage counseling, we request that you both come to the first session to maintain an equal level of communication with your counselor. We will ensure that all of your sessions will be private and confidential to ensure your safety and comfort.

Meet Richard
Richard Therkorn is the newest member of our team. He specializes in grief and marriage counseling. Richard has his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Walden University. He has worked for several years as a grief recovery specialist and is a licensed professional counselor.
Before becoming a counselor, he earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Lehigh University and a master’s degree in Physics education from Rutgers University.
Rich blends his approaches, using techniques from several types of counseling. He uses cognitive behavioral therapy to get to the core of a client’s beliefs while using a solution-focused approach to address immediate concerns. With couples, he applies a system’s approach to evaluate the interactions within the relationship to help identify places for improved function.
Most insurances are accepted. Please contact us for pricing details for specific counselors and counseling, as well as insured and uninsured.
